The Video Consortium is a creative community of the world's leading video journalists and non-fiction filmmakers. We promote and foster socially-conscious, thought-provoking, nonfiction storytelling for a new era of media.
REDEFINING THE SHORT DOCUMENTARY COMMUNITY
Today, over a third of content consumed online is video, and just this year, web video advertising jumped thirty per cent, to ten billion dollars. We’re making more films than ever before, producing them and distributing them in intriguing, ever-evolving ways, and watching them wherever we go, from the screens in our pockets to the most public of places. The future (and the present) for this medium shines bright. And yet, during a time when societal unease and shifting mores permeate the zeitgeist, truthful stories that inspire and awaken and unite us are both yearned for and a necessity.
The Video Consortium was born out of a desire to bring together the people who craft these stories — the best ones that you’ll find on the internet today. As creators, we help each other strengthen the work we make through collaborating, exchanging knowledge, and communing both IRL and online . . . and, in the process, furthering this powerful medium towards a brilliant future. »
