BY THE BAY
Our Bay Area filmmakers unite bi-monthly to celebrate the community’s top nonfiction work. This is the Consortium’s third chapter, and it came alive in July of 2017, when Myrna Perez gave New York a call and mentioned San Francisco’s need for a network such as this. Javier and Noam took the reins, and the rest is history. Come out and hang!

Noam is a San Francisco-based National Geographic Explorer and independent filmmaker. Between hanging off of rock faces and shooting in deep mud, Noam runs her own production company. Her academic background in international development and conflict tends to find a way into her work, and many of her projects take a human and cultural lens to storytelling. Some media outlets and brands Noam has worked with include National Geographic, Smithsonian Channel (CBS & Showtime), The North Face, Adidas/Terrex and Google. Noam’s latest short documentary "My Dear Kyrgyzstan" will make its festival premier at the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival in 2019.
Javier is a Guatemalan filmmaker and curator primarily working in non-fiction cinema. His works include El Soñador, The Color of Time, and The Earth Did Not Speak, which was nominated for a 2016 International Documentary Association Award. Javier’s work focuses on hidden histories told through a lyrical, non-conventional documentary style. Some of his most notable recognitions include the JustFilms Princess Grace Award, The Presidents Award at Full Frame Documentary Film Festival and the Delphic Art Movie Award. He is the co-founder of 32K Productions, a full scale film production company based in San Francisco.
